The Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States of America is a registered charity in Canada and a 501c3 in the United States. Our mission is to fundamentally enhance and encourage mutual understanding between Canada and the United States. In so doing, our core program is the Canada – US Fulbright program, a core and integral part of the prestigious global Fulbright program that has been operating since the mid-1940s.
Our commitment, simply stated, is to invest in future leaders, support extraordinary scholars and scholarship, and contribute in a meaningful way to mutual understanding and cooperation. Our strategy, anchored in our Fulbright commitment to supporting the most extraordinary graduate students along with some of the most imaginative, impressive and successful scholars in the two countries, is to engage future leaders in the process. Having said that, we have recently undertaken to engage young persons in both countries.
Our programs, in the first instance, include a new partnership with the Maple Leaf Foundation in Boston and the creation of the Fulbright Canada – Maple Leaf Foundation High School Exchange Program. At the same time, we are committed as a managing partner in the U.S. State Department sponsored Youth Ambassadors Program. Both target underrepresented youth populations as potential ambassadors to the relationship.
