The Fulbright Canada-Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is intended for U.S. Students interested in coming to Canada to undertake advanced research projects for 10 to 12 weeks (between May and August) in their area of interest. Projects will be drawn from a broad cross-section of research topics covering all academic disciplines, and students will be placed with a university research project and undertake research projects under the supervision of a professor. Students will be given the opportunity to take part in professional training and extensive opportunities for cultural, social, and recreational experiences.

Applicants must
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application
- Be registered and currently studying at an accredited university located in the United States
- Be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or combined undergraduate/master's program
- Have one to three semesters remaining in their program as of Fall 2025
- Have a competitive grade point average
- Be able to complete an internship lasting 10 to 12 consecutive weeks in Canada between May 1st and October 31st, 2025. You must be able to start your internship between May 1st and July 31st, 2025

After review by Fulbright Canada, applicants who are recommended for the internship are promoted to the next stage - a matching process with research projects.
The program is competitive, and students are evaluated on a combination of factors, including their academic and professional records, application rationale, reference letters, and skills appropriate to the project or professor.

- September 25th, 2024, at 4:00 PM EST– Fulbright extended deadline to receive applications.
- September/ October 2024 – Application Screening: Fulbright Canada reviews applications and recommends candidates for the research project matching step.
- November/ December 2024 – Project Matching: Recommended candidates are asked to select research projects (3-10 projects from at least three different Canadian provinces); Host professors review and rank student applications.
- January 2025 – Matching Confirmation: Invitations sent to successful candidates for placement as Globalink Research Interns.
- February - April 2025 – Pre-internship Preparation: Successful students begin working with their host professors to arrange pre-internship details.
- May - October 2025 – Internship: Globalink Research Interns in Canada for their 12-week research project.
