- Traditional Fulbright student awards are normally granted for a full academic year (nine months) and normally begin in September.
- The award carries a fixed cash value of US$25,000.
- Grantees are expected to use the award to cover expenses related to their studies and/or research, such as housing, travel, tuition and other academic expenditures in the United States.
- Visa and other professional services are provided, along with enrolment in the Accident and Sickness Program for Exchange (ASPE) health benefit plan.
- Grants may, under exceptional circumstances, be offered for different periods and may be pro-rated accordingly.
- An integral part of the program includes Fulbright enrichment opportunities, which are available on a competitive basis.
