Fulbright Canada Research Chair in Community Health, Decolonization and Reconciliation

Werklund School of Education

The Werklund School of Education seeks a Fulbright Canada Scholar working in the area of community health with a focus on how they can advance the work of decolonization and reconciliation (TRC 2015) through a focus on health outcomes. By engaging researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders, the Fulbright Scholar will explore how digital storytelling can enhance media literacy and empower multinational communities. The scholar will also evaluate the effectiveness of digital storytelling in fostering reflection among educators, social workers, and healthcare professionals to better understand and address societal challenges. Adopting a community-centered, culturally and linguistically appropriate approach is inherently transdisciplinary and will support progress in meeting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action by supporting development of their professional identity. The scholar will conduct cross-border transdisciplinary research in their areas of interest, taking advantage of a robust group of scholars at the University of Calgary. Fulbright Canada Research Chair in Progressive Theologies and Teacher Education

Werklund School of Education

The Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary is seeking a scholar in curriculum theorizing drawing on traditions in teacher education and religious studies or other intersecting areas of expertise. This scholar will be provided an opportunity to conduct research/lecture on ways to reopen pathways in the social sciences to read back through theological concepts for the sake of reclaiming both the broad and deep impact of religious faith as it might come to differently explain the world. Transdisciplinary in nature, the collaboration could emerge from concepts in ritual studies or secularisms as they have been developed from religious, literary, educational, anthropological, sociological and philosophical studies.  This scholar would seek to open up new social scientific theoretical frameworks for research using, theological studies, and progressive theologies. We seek a scholar who works in this general area and is interested in engaging with students, faculty, and the broader community.  The University of Calgary is a leading Canadian university located in the nation’s most enterprising city, with a clear strategic initiative to lead innovative teaching and ground-breaking research, and to fully engage the communities we both serve and lead.

Fulbright Canada Research Chair in AI Enhanced Education

Award: US$25,000-$38,000 for 4-6 months

The Chair will be hosted by the AVP, Teaching, Learning and Scholarship, under the VP Academic’s portfolio and primarily engaged in working with faculty in our graduate and undergraduate departments (4). The Research Chair will leverage supports and resources available from the Centre for Teaching Excellence and the Office of Research and Scholarship, as well as others as needed.

The Fulbright Canada UCW Research Chair in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning will join an innovative business and technology-oriented institution. The University offers MBA, Associate Arts, Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Business Communication degrees. UCW student and faculty are exceptionally unique with students from more than 110 countries. UCW is a dynamic and fast-growing institution and places great importance on understanding and improving teaching and learning practices in higher education. Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is a strength area within UCW and the university community embraces critical adoption of innovation in education practices and education technology and strives to enhance the quality of education and student outcomes. The Research Chair will leverage their expertise in education technology and hybrid and on-line teaching to collaborate with faculty on ongoing SoTL research efforts with a special focus on AI enhanced learning. The Research Chair will participate in regular seminars and workshops and provide a public lecture. The Chair will be integrated into the School of Arts, Sciences and Technology, the School of Business, and the Centre for Advanced Studies and leverage supports and resources available from the Centre for Teaching Excellence and the Office of Research and Scholarship.

Fulbright Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Education

Institute of Indigenous Research and Studies
Faculty of Education

Hosted jointly by the Institute of Indigenous Research and Studies and the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa, the Chairholder will collaborate on research activities related to Indigenous language revitalization, oral history education, land-based education, and Indigenous educator training and retention in partnership with First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities, colleagues, students, and organizations. The University of Ottawa is located on the territory of the Omamìwìnini Anishnàbeg (Algonquin) and is the largest French-English bilingual university in the world. We are located within reach of Canada's federal government institutions as well as the headquarters of many Indigenous organizations. Together, the Institute and the Faculty of Education offer unique opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborative knowledge gathering and sharing. The IRS aims to foster dedicated spaces for Indigenous scholars to push the boundaries of their disciplines, critically assess and question current practices, and renew their fields. To carry out its mandate, the Institute is working to bring together Indigenous scholars who will lead the University in renewing its teaching and research, and to better meet the needs of Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners. Consistently ranked among the top 100 best universities for Education, the Faculty of Education engages in ongoing conversations and collaborations on issues such as Indigenous education and research and is working closely with Indigenous partners to respond to the calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Vancouver Island University (VIU) located in Nanaimo, British Columbia has developed a highly regarded Indigenous commitment across its institutional programs and initiatives. Vancouver Island University is looking to further build its Indigenous area of strength and research priority by welcoming a Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in Indigenous Studies.  In addition to conducting research on a topic of their choice, the Fulbright Chair will be invited to give a minimum of two open audience lectures, attend a small number of special events, and engage with VIU faculty and community members.
